When Hope Seems Lost . . .

“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord.” (Jonah 2:7).  When you feel you have no hope left — when your soul is fainting from the battle and the threat of utter defeat — remember the Lord and His mercies. Jeremiah admonishes us in Lamentations 2:18-23 with these sure words: “And I said, My strength and my hope is perished …. This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.”
